Forgotten Manifest/Changelog

What changed, and when

  1. 0.41.0

A shopkeeper, appraising, and a deposit box.

    • Tobin the Shopkeeper buys what you no longer need, at the market.
    • Found necklaces and bracelets drop unappraised. Click one to see its rarity.
    • The Cloister Garden has a deposit box for storing what you gather.
    • Dragging gear onto your worn slots wears it.
  2. 0.40.0

The Cloister Garden, rarities, and scrapping gear.

    • The Cloister Garden: a shared place to gather, on the board with the Arcanum.
    • Found necklaces and bracelets come in rarities, with bonus lines.
    • Gear you made can be broken down at the scrapper.
    • If the game crashes, it sends a short report. You can turn this off in Settings.
  3. 0.39.0

Email recovery, restart warnings, and reporting.

    • Add an email in Settings so you can get back in if you forget your password.
    • Everyone is warned five minutes before a server restart.
    • Report a player from their menu.
    • New icons on the bar.
    • Endless arenas no longer slow down the longer you play.
    • The Long Reach upgrade works on every weapon.
    • After a boss is beaten, the level's music comes back.
    • Emotes are silent.
  4. 0.38.0

Smoother play, a bigger vault, and new amulets.

    • The game runs smoother on PC and on phones.
    • Going back to the login screen keeps you remembered on this device, so you can log straight back in. Log out and forget me, in the menu, forgets you.
    • The vault holds 200 kinds of items, up from 120.
    • Three new accessories to make: the Aquamarine Amulet, the Ruby Amulet and the Stone Bracers.
    • Emberwood can be made from Forging level 1, and gives much less experience.
    • No extraction points for now. To get out with what you found, reach the end of the level or use a Rune of Return.
    • Manifests take five minutes to cool down, and can't be used in town.
    • The town's copper rock comes back after five minutes, in town and in your plot.
    • Mining stone and clay gives less experience.
    • Fewer butterflies, especially by the apple trees.
    • Simpler skill icons.
  5. 0.37.2

    A faster phone app.

    • The phone app runs faster.
    • Settings can show your frame rate.
  6. 0.37.0 · 0.37.1

Critical hits, necklaces, and benches sorted by what they make.

    • Critical hits: any hit you deal can crit for extra damage, shown in gold.
    • Necklaces and bracelets: three rare ones to find in delves, and bracers and an amulet to make.
    • Every bench has tabs for what it makes. Bows and crossbows are made at the tannery now, and staffs and wands at the loom.
    • The kill bonus for getting out is gone. Healing with a weapon earns experience instead.
    • Endless arenas give less experience and half the loot. What you find there is kept apart and goes to your vault when you leave.
    • Five new armour sets, to be found later.
    • The river's fishing spot moved to the millpond.
    • The relic shows your manifests as icons. Press one to see what it does.
    • Phones can turn on the new lighting in Settings, under Shaders. It starts off on phones.
  7. 0.36.0

Manifests, deeper areas, and levels that count.

    • Manifests: beat certain bosses to earn a power, and attune to it at the new relic in town, by the river. Each one has an ability you set off yourself, and while it lasts it adds to your weapon's special and ultimate.
    • Deeper areas: the Arcanum, the Sunken Vaults and the Catacombs each go twice as deep, with new monsters and a new fight halfway down. The Vaults and the Catacombs have endless arenas too.
    • Skill levels count: every fighting level adds damage, and every gathering or crafting level makes you faster at it.
    • Make your character before the tutorial: pick a look and one of twelve outfits. The tailor sells outfits, and there are more hairstyles.
    • New plate armour at the forge, and redrawn light armour, leather and dragon hide. Dyes now colour the cloth and trim, never the metal.
    • In a party, a fallen teammate leaves a grave, and some powers can bring them back. A party can only go where everyone in it has been.
    • Side rooms are worth a look: ore, trees and fishing pools that change from run to run, and new fish to cook.
    • Levers, rune doors, crumbling floors and walls you can break, in some levels.
    • Boss halls glow, and some rematches change if you bring along what you took.
    • Hits feel smoother: the camera eases instead of jolting, and weapons have new hit sounds.
  8. 0.35.0

    New lighting and atmosphere.

    • New lighting: softer shadows, light that bounces, and a glow around every flame.
    • Each area has its own air, from clear halls to dust and fog.
    • Wet floors reflect and metal shines.
    • On by default on PC. You can turn it off in Settings under Shaders. Phones keep the simpler look for now.
  9. 0.34.0

A bigger town, and no chests on first floors.

    • The town grew: a river gate, Bram's meadow and a millpond around the square. Anything you grew in town comes with you.
    • First floors no longer have chests, except in the tutorial.
    • Monster health and damage were rebalanced.
    • The steel armour was redrawn.
    • The 3D ground is off for now, until it looks right.
  10. 0.33.0

A new area, a boss for the Low Crypts, and better hits.

    • The Seam is open, a new area with two paths through it.
    • The Low Crypts now end with a boss on the fifth floor. The Foundry opens after you beat either the Deep Vaults or the Low Crypts.
    • Hit feel has its own setting: Off, Subtle, Punchy or Heavy. Punchy is the default, and hits flash warm instead of white.
    • Attacks now match their numbers exactly, and monsters in the hardest areas are tougher.
    • Walls and the ground have depth, water shines and reflects, and the Hidden Village's red gate is a real gate you walk under. When you're behind a wall, you show as a shadow.
    • The copper armour was redrawn.
    • Gathering and farming give half as much experience. Work plots cost a seed, you can have two of each, and they show when they're still growing.
    • Bits stack past 99. Healing items tell you when you're already at full health, and the death screen says what killed you.
    • On phones: buttons beside the map, pinch to zoom, a bigger interface, and the game reconnects on its own.
  11. 0.32.0

Your own plot, skills, and hosting your own world.

    • Your own plot: a private place you reach from town (the Plot button, or H). Build it one tile at a time with walls, floors, furniture, borders, and work plots that grow trees, rocks, crops and fish.
    • Building uses materials from your pack and vault, and picking a piece back up gives them back. More building sets unlock as you beat areas. Your party can come and visit.
    • Skills: thirteen of them, for fighting, gathering and crafting. They level up as you play.
    • Crafting better gear needs skill levels, like Forging 5 for iron. Gathering never needs a level, and weapons you already have always work.
    • The Journal shows every skill and what each level unlocks, and a new Items page shows where things come from and what they're for.
    • Host your own world from the title screen on PC, with a password so only your friends can join.
    • If this device remembers you, logging in is one button.
    • Every boss drops Refining Shards, which the whetstone can use to sharpen any weapon.
    • Materials stack to ten. Seeds come from rocks and trees in delves. The groundskeeper can grow a free stone and clay rock in town.
    • The Deranged Forest is complete, with a boss at the end and a level to fight it again.
    • When a boss winds up a big hit, the ground it's about to hit lights up. This is being tested.
    • Melee swings no longer lower the damage you take, except the sword's spin. The talisman's ultimate does half damage but heals anyone standing in it.
    • Every control can have two bindings. Closing the window asks first. Every menu works with a controller.
    • Tam the Guide stands near the spawn and can show you around town. The tailor is now called Sable.
    • New music for the forest, the Catacombs and two bosses.
    • Fixed: the lighting flashed when you placed a wall in your plot.
  12. 0.31.0

A Catacombs boss, a new forest, the Journal, and chat history.

    • The Catacombs now have a boss at the end of the third level, and half the dead down there get back up and walk around.
    • The Deranged Forest, a new area that opens after the Catacombs' third level. Something rides the animals there, and when its mount falls it looks for another.
    • FWC Mode in Settings turns the forest's demons into friendly woodland animals.
    • The Journal (J) shows your equipment, your levels and the monsters you've met.
    • Chat keeps the last day of messages, up to a hundred lines.
    • The groundskeeper can grow your town trees and rocks into better ones, paid in seeds.
    • Every floor past the first areas has a chest, with more of what that area is known for.
    • Dropped items take a moment before you can pick them up again. The vault can filter and sort.
    • Melee hits stun a little longer. Shinobi weapons only work once you've learned them.
    • Fixed: leaving the game at the wrong moment could crash it.
  13. 0.30.0

Two new areas, a faster game, and all the steel gear to craft.

    • The Hidden Village, a new area that opens after the Sunken Vaults' third level. The people there wear the village's gear and fight with its weapons.
    • Shinobi is learned there: a new mix of melee and ranged with a kusarigama, shuriken and a three piece set. With a Shinobi weapon, your dodge is a puff of smoke.
    • The Catacombs, a new area next to the Sunken Vaults. What you put down there doesn't always stay down.
    • Silver comes from the Catacombs. Votive Candles, made at the kitchen, sharpen handbells and talismans the way a whetstone sharpens blades.
    • The game runs much faster, more than twice as fast in town, and shadows still move with the sun and the lights.
    • Every steel, emberwood, ruby and gold weapon can be crafted. Steel is made from iron and coal.
    • Monsters, animals and pets no longer have outlines. This is being tested.
    • The runic gauntlets glow in their own shape.
    • Farm animals hop instead of waddle.
  14. A rebuilt town, a hands-on tutorial, and melee that interrupts.

    • The town was rebuilt. The crafting benches line the north side, the high street runs through the middle with the Pit at the east end, and there are woods and an orchard. The well, the board and the vault didn't move.
    • New furniture, trees, benches and beehives, and the farmer and the tailor were redrawn.
    • The tutorial is hands on: walk, run, break a training dummy, roll over spikes, use a special, eat, open a chest and climb out.
    • Every prompt shows the right button for your keyboard, controller or phone.
    • Melee hits interrupt an enemy's attack. Big enemies wear down their guard instead.
    • Melee can hit enemies standing right on top of you.
    • The gauntlets work like every other weapon again.
    • Two new potions at the brewery: one makes you faster, and one protects you from fire.
    • A Rune of Return, made at the forge, takes you home with what you're carrying.
    • The first of the strongest weapons, the Emberwood Shortbow. There's also a hide armour set, a step up from leather.
    • Crops can take fertilizer. Bone dust gives a bigger harvest and moss makes them grow faster.
    • Loot that doesn't fit in your pack stays on the floor.
  15. The Foundry, new monsters in the Sunken Vaults, and better loot.

    • The Foundry, a new area with three levels, a boss, and six new kinds of monster. Coal comes from its burnt trees and coal rocks.
    • The Sunken Vaults have eight new kinds of monster, and all three levels were reworked.
    • Stairs are behind doors that open once the room is clear.
    • More iron in the Vaults. Anything you gather in a delve is only yours once you get out.
    • Each monster drops its own loot now, and bosses are worth far more than slimes. Eleven new materials come with it.
    • Rare drops glow on the floor, and weapons sometimes drop already sharpened.
    • Summoned monsters don't drop anything.
    • The farm was repainted, with three new crops and two new animals found in delves.
    • Your character's body and hair have shading now.
    • New music for the Sunken Vaults and the Foundry.
  16. An endless arena, and stronger melee.

    • The Infinite Archive, in the Arcanum: fight wave after wave until your party leaves or falls. It opens after the Arcanum's third level.
    • Between waves, everyone picks one of three upgrades.
    • The way out opens after every fifth wave.
    • Melee swings lower the damage you take until they land, and melee weapons add to your armour while you hold them.
    • The sword hits harder on its later swings.
    • Specials and ultimates fill up from time spent fighting.
    • Fixed: tall things were cut off by walls, and lamp light could land on the wrong side of a wall.
    • The wishing well needs a free pack slot for each wish.
    • Lava, tar and some special attacks look better.
    • A sharpened weapon's number shows in its rarity colour.
    • The Sunken Vaults are built from mossy brick. Smelting no longer needs a log.
  17. A wishing well, dyes, and emotes.

    • The wishing well in the square takes five bits a wish. Most of what comes up is junk, but five wishes at once always give at least one good thing.
    • Rare wishes light the well up in green, blue, purple or gold, and everyone in the square can see it.
    • Dyes: eight colours, found only in the well. Drag one onto a piece of armour to dye it. Each bottle is used up.
    • Emotes: nine of them, on a wheel. T on a keyboard, a button on phones, Back on a controller.
    • The whetstone shows its roll landing on the bar.
    • The vault asks how many items to move.
    • Animal pens are collected from their panel, which shows when the next one is ready.
    • The newest boss has its own moves now.
  18. 0.29.0

A tutorial, Remember me, and lots of new sounds.

    • New players start in the tutorial, The Landing.
    • Signs show which button to press on your device.
    • Remember me: tick the box to stay logged in on that device.
    • Phones can open the menu.
    • Gathering minigames work by tapping.
    • The end of a run shows what you brought out, or what you lost.
    • Fifty-seven new sounds for crafting, gathering, eating, menus and more. Hits sound like what they land on.
    • Party members are asked if they're ready before going down.
    • Fixed three Sunken Vaults floors that couldn't be finished.
    • Iron and ironwood can be found in the Sunken Vaults, with a merchant who sells silver.
    • Sharpening goes up to +25.
    • Your character moves differently with each weapon.
    • Swords do most of their damage with follow-up swings.

    • Vibration on phones and controllers, on by default.
    • The edges of the screen turn red when your health is low.
    • Hits throw off bits in the enemy's colours.
    • Loot pops out of enemies and flies to you.
    • An exclamation mark shows when an enemy spots you, and you can see when a dodge saves you.
    • Stairs and exits have a transition, and your party arrives together.
    • New menus in the game's own style, and Settings is easier to find your way around.
    • The board is in two columns.
    • The menu says Menu instead of Paused, since the world keeps going. Leaving asks first.
    • Swords cost three bars. Monsters stopped dropping junk.
  20. Townsfolk stay in town.

    • Townspeople no longer follow you into delves.
  21. 0.28.0

Money, your own loot, and key settings.

    • The game has money, called bits. Monsters drop it and shops take it.
    • Bits go in a purse, so they don't take up a pack slot.
    • Bits you find in a delve are only yours once you get out.
    • You can trade bits.
    • Loot is your own. In a party, everyone gets their own drops.
    • Keys can be changed in Settings.
    • The game uses much less data.
    • The gauntlets' beam looks better.
  22. 0.26.0 · 0.27.0

Two new areas, passwords, and a safer connection.

    • Two new areas. Finishing a level opens the next one.
    • The Shallows is where to start: short levels with one new enemy at a time.
    • The Sunken Vaults: rune-lit stone and holes in the floor, over four levels.
    • Your connection is now encrypted.
    • Accounts have passwords. The first person to log in with a name keeps it, and wrong guesses can't lock anyone out.
    • Melee swings step in first, so they land more often.
    • Fixed: a dodge right after a melee swing was too short.
    • Fixed: the sword's ultimate sometimes didn't go off.
    • A server picker on the login screen shows each server's ping.
    • One character works on every server.
  23. 0.24.0 · 0.25.0

Weapon sharpening, a new starting kit, and a second pet.
